Motivation

A significant increase in the number of people in need of care is expected within the next few years. Two-thirds of all care recipients currently live at home and are mostly cared for by their relatives. In order to support informal caregivers without medical or nursing education and to help them decide on necessary care measures and, if necessary, physical and temporal relief, they should be provided with systems and resources that offer these services.

Aims and Procedures

The aim of this project is to develop a surface temperature, motion and humidity sensing system with emergency call function for integration in furniture constructions. The Nursing Research Group will carry out evaluation and testing of the newly developed mattress-like textile structures with integrated fiber optic sensors.
